Hegseth Responds to The Atlantic’s Publication of Screenshots from Secret Signal Chat

According to the U.S. Secretary of Defense, The Atlantic published so-called "military plans" from the chat, but they do not contain names, targets, routes, sources, or any classified information.

"This proves only one thing: Jeff Goldberg has never seen a war plan or an 'attack plan' (as he now calls it). Not even close. We will continue doing our job, and the media will keep doing what they do best: spreading hoaxes," he wrote on social media platform X.

On Wednesday, The Atlantic published what is claimed to be the full transcript of a conversation among high-ranking U.S. officials, which mistakenly included the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg. The chat reportedly contained details about the timing of U.S. strikes on Yemeni Houthis, the types of aircraft used, and preliminary assessments of the strike outcomes. The publication stated that The Atlantic decided to release the messages because the administration of President Donald Trump had repeatedly denied the presence of any classified information in them.
